How routines work

A routine borrows its shape from a gym session. You do a series of sets, each a single drill at a set difficulty for a set time, with a short rest between them. At the end you see your total score, accuracy and a breakdown of every set.

Warm-up, working set, heavy lift

  • Warm-up: the easiest level. It wakes up the skill and builds confidence.
  • Working set: the everyday level where most of the improvement happens.
  • Heavy lift: the hardest level, with more notes, more keys and stricter spelling.

Progression by level

The quick builder lays out a progression for you. Beginner routines stay mostly in warm-up territory and finish with a short working set. Intermediate routines spend most of their time on working sets and end with a taste of heavy work. Advanced routines take a quick warm-up and then only get heavier. Whatever you pick, you can edit every set afterwards.

Build your own

Choose the drills, difficulty and length of each set, reorder them, and set your rest time. Custom routines are saved on this device, so you can repeat them daily.

Frequently asked questions

What is a routine?

A routine is a short workout made of several timed sets. Each set is one drill at one difficulty for a fixed time, with a rest between sets, and you get a summary at the end.

What are warm-ups, working sets and heavy lifts?

They are the three difficulty levels in every drill. Warm-ups are the easiest, working sets are the everyday level, and heavy lifts are the hardest. Good routines open with a warm-up and get heavier.

Are my custom routines saved?

Yes, in your browser on this device. There are no accounts, so they are not synced between devices and clearing your browser data removes them.

How long should a session be?

Ten to fifteen focused minutes a day beats an occasional hour. Start with a 5 or 10 minute beginner routine and move up as accuracy stays above 85%.
