MusicTheoryGym is free to use. A few parts of it are the work of other people, shared under open licences. Thank you to everyone below.
Piano sounds
The recorded piano notes come from the Salamander Grand Piano, a Yamaha C5 grand piano recorded and edited by Alexander Holm.
- Licence: Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 (CC BY 3.0).
- Source: Salamander Grand Piano V3, as distributed in the SFZ Instruments repository.
- Changes made: we use a selection of 30 notes, converted to compressed MP3 files. The notes in between are made by playing the nearest recording at a slightly different pitch, and the volume and fade-out are adjusted for the site.
- The licence allows commercial use, including on a website that shows advertising, provided the author is credited, the licence is linked and changes are stated. This page does that. The author does not endorse this site.
Music notation shapes
The clefs, notes, rests and accidentals drawn on the staff come from the Noto Music font by Google and contributors, used under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.
Typefaces
Inter, Space Grotesk and JetBrains Mono are served from our own site through the Fontsource packages, each under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.
Everything else
The lessons, drills, charts, tools and other sounds (the synthesised piano used as a fallback, the tuner tone and the metronome-style clicks) are made for this site.
